Here you will find out why we do what we do, when we do it, and quite importantly how we do it. Firstly, if you are a parent of a child attending the school, you are automatically part of the PTA, and all PTA members are members of the Friends. Furthermore, any relative, past pupil or local person can request to become a member of the Friends in order to offer support to the school.
Our aim is to further enhance our children's education and enjoyment whilst at Chilworth Infant School. We do this by:
- raising funds to help the school provide extra resources for the pupils
- running social events for parents and children; providing an opportunity for people to meet and get to know each other and have fun
- providing support for school trips and outings and other special events
Every year we accept responsibility for funding the swimming pool, children use this every day in the summer term, and it is open in the summer holidays for existing children and those starting school in September.
We also subsidise school trips, provide the school with a dipping in fund, for those little extras and fund the Christmas festivities.
In recent years, the Friends have also helped fund a variety of things around the school including the extended Outdoor Classroom Area outside Blue and Red Class and Pool Equipment and Refurbishment.
Raising funds is an important function of the Friends and this is achieved through various fundraising and social events throughout the year.
We often hold such events as:
Christmas Fair
Summer Fair / Family Fun Day
Cinema Evenings
Cake Sales / Ice Lolly Sales (Summer Term)
Committee
You can have a say in the decisions which affect our school. The Friends are managed by a small committee of volunteers but our meetings are open to all who wish to attend. The committee generally meets once a term to manage PTA business and organise events.
The people on the Committee come from all walks of life, but we all have one thing in common – our desire to see the school succeed and for our children to have the best facilities available. No special skills are needed to join the Committee – just enthusiasm and a willingness to be an integral part of Chilworth Infant School. To contact the Friends, please email friends@chilworth.surrey.sch.uk.
